Bildiri: The Role of AI-Powered Tools in Improving English Pronunciation/ İngilizce Telaffuzun Geliştirilmesinde Yapay Zeka Araçlarının Rolü

Pronunciation is one of the most challenging skills in learning English, and recent developments in artificial intelligence (Al) have introduced new opportunities to support learners’ pronunciation development.. The present study aims to explore the use, perceived effectiveness, and accessibility of AI-powered tools among EFL learners. The study was conducted with the participation of 49 preparatory class students at Süleyman Demirel University. The data were collected through a questionnaire consisting of 15 closed-ended questions using a 5-point Likert-scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods to identify patterns in students’ responses. The findings revealed that nearly half of the students used Al-powered pronunciation tools regularly, and the majority of participants found these tools easy to use. Many participants reported that these tools help improve their pronunciation and increase their motivation to practice. Additionally, Al tools were found to reduce speaking anxiety and support self-regulated learning. However, some students expressed neutral views about their effectiveness and previous research suggests that these tools may lack real life conversational interaction. Overall, the findings showed that AI-powered tools were beneficial for supporting pronunciation development, especially when combined with traditional teaching strategies. The study highlights the importance of combining traditional methods with new technologies and integrating AI-powered tools into language learning environments.
