Bildiri: E-Learning Motivation among SDÜ Students in YÖK 5(i) Courses

Özet

With the increasing integration of online education in higher education, understanding students’ motivation in e-learning environments has become crucial for enhancing instructional quality and learning outcomes. In Türkiye, YÖK 5(i) courses—namely Turkish Language, Atatürk’s Principles and History of Revolution, and English—are commonly delivered through online platforms, making them a valuable context for examining learner motivation. This study aims to investigate the motivation levels of university students enrolled in YÖK 5(i) courses offered through e-learning at Süleyman Demirel University. The data will be collected using a 33-item Likert-scale questionnaire in Turkish (Yıldırım & Şahin, 2016) to measure students’ motivation towards e-learning environments. The questionnaire assesses key dimensions of motivation, including intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation, within the context of online learning. Participants of the study consist of undergraduate students who are currently taking or have already taken YÖK 5(i) courses online. The data will be analyzed to identify overall motivation levels and examine potential differences based on demographic variables. The findings are expected to provide insights into students’ motivational orientations in mandatory online courses and highlight factors that influence engagement in e-learning environments. The study is anticipated to contribute to the improvement of online course design and instructional practices in higher education by offering practical implications for increasing student motivation and participation.
